We’re diverse, we’re original and we’re making a difference. We’re the University of East London. Or UEL for short. UEL became a university in 1992 with a heritage dating back to 1898 when it opened as the West Ham Technical Institute and became known as ‘the People’s University’.
We are first among modern universities in London for the impact of our research in Sociology & Social Practice and Health, and first nationally for the impact of our Psychology research.
